Hi Dana,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, my fellow Canadian!
Family style meals at Walt Disney World Resort operate similarly to buffets: everyone pays a set price for an all-you-care-to-eat feast that is brought directly to your table. I love these types of meals when my party includes several young children because it means I don’t have to wrangle a kiddo and a plate in a buffet line!
As for price, children’s pricing is available for kids between the ages of 3 and 9 and it typically varies depending on the time of year and meal that you’ve chosen to enjoy. This means that, if you’re planning to eat supper somewhere during the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, expect to pay more than you would for lunch during a week in, say, January. This is why the official Walt Disney World pages typically only specify a range of prices for a given dining location.
That being said,
The Garden Grill is one of my favourite family style dining locations at Walt Disney World Resort - my family considers it a real hidden gem! I highly recommend dining there during your upcoming vacation. If you want to get a better (and more specific) sense of how much your meal there is likely to cost, I would recommend consulting an unofficial page, such as the Disney Food Blog or allears.net, for more detailed pricing information, bearing in mind that the information that those pages contain is not official and is subject to change at any time.
One final note: if there are any children under the age of 3 in your party, you’ll be happy to know that they’re Mickey’s special guests during their stay at Walt Disney World Resort. This means, among other things, that they can dine at no charge at any buffet or family style dining location.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
