My kids asked if we could do a Disney cruise next year. 5 total, DD7, DS5, & DS3. Any tips, ideas, things that are must do on a cruise or port of call, amount of time for a first cruise? Want to go fall/win 16, 1st time cruisers. TIA!

    Ahoy, Jamie!

It sounds like your family just might have a magical adventure on the horizon!

The magic begins when you board the ship, and from the first moment, you're treated like VIP Guests. You'll settle in for a delicious lunch, or maybe a dip in the pool, before heading out to the Sail Away Celebration. As you pull away from port, you'll be filled with excitement for all the fun that lies ahead!

For first-time cruisers, I always suggest at least a 4-night cruise. Our first voyage was a 3-night, and it seemed like it was over just as we were learning our way around the ship! Four nights give you enough time to experience all the fun activities available to you on a Disney Cruise. Each day, you'll receive a Personal Navigator, a schedule of times and locations of activities for all ages. I suggest bringing colored highlighters to make note of your "must-dos"! You'll find opportunities for trivia games, dance parties, Character Appearances, karaoke and much, much more. Don't get overwhelmed - you can't do it all! I encourage you to take time to relax and just enjoy your time together - you can do as much or as little as you want!

Another suggestion for first-timers is to schedule a cruise itinerary that stops at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. (It's absolutely my most favorite place in all the world!) My family likes to rent bicycles and explore the island - a great way to check out the scenery, and also work off some of those cruise calories! My kids enjoy the splashtacular fun of Pelican Plunge - an amazing floating water playground.

Make sure to check out the Youth Clubs onboard - the Oceaneer Club is a big hit with the kids, and provides parents with time to explore the ship on their own while the kids are entertained by amazing Youth Counselors.

There's so much more, but I'm running out of room! Please come back with your questions as you plan your vacation - we're happy to help! - Diane W.
