    Are kids allowed to use mermaid tail monofins now that they are offering Mermaid classes? My granddaughter wants to bring hers.

    Hi Janet, 

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question. I’ve always wanted to swim gracefully through the water like a mermaid… but I’m concerned that I would look more like a walrus if I ever dared try! 

    Although you’re absolutely right that Mermaid School and other fun recreational experiences are now available at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, the use of mermaid “tails” and other monofins is unfortunately not allowed when class isn’t in session. From what I understand from the Cast Member I spoke to, there continue to be safety reasons behind this policy, both for the mermaid and for other Guests that may be enjoying the pool at that time. 

    I’m sorry I wasn’t able to give you the answer you were hoping to receive. That being said, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions that will help you better plan your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort with your granddaughter.
