Hi Andrea: My children are now 8 and 7 and have been traveling to Walt Disney World since they were infants. We used to rent strollers as there is a lot of walking at Disney World. They stopped needing strollers at Walt Disney World at around age five. You really need to know your five year old to determine if a stroller is needed. If you bring or rent a stroller, I would just park your stroller at any space officially designated as stroller parking. Just about all attractions and rides have stroller parking nearby. You can't miss these designated stroller zones. Just look for stroller parking signs or a flock of parked strollers.
Since you plan to leave your stroller for several hours, I suggest attaching a ribbon, and maybe a name tag, to the handle to make the stroller stands out when you return to claim the stroller. Cast Members will slightly move or reorganize strollers to keep walkways clear or the stroller zones tidy.
For me, I always would take my strollers with me from ride to ride because even if my kids did not want to use the stroller, it was a great way to transport bags and packages throughout the parks. Enjoy your vacation.
Visit Walt Disney World Resort to explore the magic.
