Our kids are ages 5 and 4 and this will summer will be their first time at Disney. My husband feels it will be too much for our (just) 4 year old. Any experiences or advise for us? Should we wait a year?

    Hi Christy,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  You are not alone, this is a very common question and concern regarding planning a Walt Disney World vacation.   My youngest turned four the day before we left for our Disney vacation back in January.  I can tell you that he is STILL talking about it.  There is an absolute innocence with this age that simply makes Disney extra magical.

Personally, I wouldn't wait.  You never know when a year might turn into two...and then they will be to big to appreciate all the "little kid" stuff that Disney has to offer.  This is the age where they truly believe in the characters and the adventure.

A few words of advice, plan your trip (use the Moms Panel, buy a guidebook etc.)...but don't set your expectations too high.  Kids attitudes will change hourly, and often you just have to readjust the schedule and go with the flow.

Take pictures, lots of them.  My kids will sit endlessly and pour over the albums from our Disney Vacations.  They spur some wonderful memories, and make a priceless keepsake.

I hope this is helpful to you, feel free to send me any questions regarding traveling with little ones.  It can seem stressful and overwhelming now, but Disney is the most family friendly vacation you can take!
