Hi, Krystall! The
Children's Activity Centers located at select Disney resorts are designed to provide group childcare experiences for those families who want just a little time apart during their vacation. Therefore, for the times designated for children ages 4-12 (which is usually from around 4 p.m. to midnight depending on the individual center), the caregivers and the registered children should be the only ones there. I'm sure you understand how difficult it might become to manage all the children if one child's parent remains in the center.
Sometimes the centers will open in the afternoons prior to registration for accompanied children to experience the center with their parents or families. The programs usually are free (or require a nominal fee for crafts) and provide great entertainment while giving the children a feel for what the center is like. Once you check into your Disney resort, you can inquire about the Children's Activity Centers for the group childcare evening experience or any afternoon activities for families.
In addition, if you happen to be staying at a Disney Vacation Club resort, you can check out that resort's Community Hall. It's a family center with arts and crafts, games, movies, video games as well as activities such as ping pong or billiards. Community Hall is open to all DVC guests of that resort and all DVC members , and children must be accompanied by adults. Hopefully, this has given you some ideas of how to spend some "down time" together as a family.
Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
