Is there a Kid friendly droid making guide other than the BB & R instruction manuals that I can have my kids pre-pick what they want their droids to look like before our reservation? Like color style of parts options, and additional cost?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jacette!

Woooo-hooo! You’re going to be arriving at the Walt Disney World Resort tomorrow, and I’m just so excited for you. Let the magic begin!

Just a few days ago, I was walking through Batuu in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and my daughter and I loved seeing all the Guests with droids in their backpacks. They’re so much fun! I’m happy to hear you’re planning a visit to the Droid Depot and I think your younglings are going to have a blast choosing all the parts and assembling their very own R-series or BB-series droids.

At this time, there isn’t a catalog of all the droid components available at the Droid Depot. This industrial warehouse of droid parts and chips is a Star Wars fan’s dream – I was so excited to look up and spot a piece of my favorite guy, C-3PO, suspended from a moving belt. Before they build their droids, your children will choose their components from a conveyor belt filled with purple, orange, blue, red, and clear parts. They will have lots of time to check out the parts and find the perfect one, and you may find that a Cast Member in the depot can give them some information when you check in. A big part of the fun is seeing the parts in real life right in front of you and choosing the perfect parts in the moment, and I hope they love it!

As for pricing, customizing a droid currently costs $99.99 (the price for the droid and add-ons is subject to change). After the droid is complete, you can add on a carrying backpack (a box for the droid is included). There are also personality chips available for the droids for an additional cost of around 13 dollars, and there are decals for the droids for purchase as well.

This article from the Disney Parks Blog highlights the droid-making process and shows many of the parts available. I hope it makes your young Star Wars fans so excited – they are going to be living their Star Wars adventure so soon!

Enjoy your visit to Batuu, Jacette!
