I kept an eye on reservations for Trader Sam's for several days. Seats for one person were never displayed, but seats for two people were. Is it not possible for one person to make a reservation? Can I make a reservation for 2 instead?

    Hi Jennifer,

Welcome back to planDisney! Thank you for continuing to trust us with your planning questions.

A trip to Trader Sam’s is always super fun; they have such a great variety of drinks to choose from, and the atmosphere is brimming with tropical goodness! Dining reservations can be made 60 days in advance, and from my own tiki travels, I can tell you that reservations at Trader Sam’s are a hot commodity. I highly recommend that you snag the reservation for a party of two and then let your host know your situation when you arrive. A table for two and a table for one usually take up the same space, so there should be no issue.

That said, I’d be cautious with this strategy if your actual party size is much smaller or significantly larger than what you booked for.

If, for whatever reason, you're unable to secure a reservation, I recommend swinging by Trader Sam’s right when it opens at 11:30 AM to try and grab a same-day reservation. You can also try joining the Walk-Up List through the Disneyland app. Just search for Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, and when the listing appears, you’ll see the option to “Join Walk-Up List.” Be sure to enable your phone’s location services and be close by to make it work!

And if you’re hoping to sit inside the mysterious and magical tiki hideaway, keep in mind that starting at 8:00 PM, parties with Guests under 21 will be seated outside. So, arriving earlier is your best bet if you want to soak in all that atmospheric, enchanted goodness.

While you're visiting the Disneyland Hotel, I also recommend you bar-hop over to the Broken Spell Lounge. This spot is a true hidden gem, especially since it’s still fairly new! The lounge features fantastic food, creative drinks, and I’m a big fan of the live music offered on select evenings. It’s the perfect place to wind down and enjoy a magical nightcap after a fun-filled day in the parks.

I hope this info was helpful, Jennifer!  If you have any more questions or need a little extra pixie dust, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always here to help make your Disney dreams come true!

    Mahalo and Happy Planning!
