We have a Kelty lightweight kid carrier/backpack. Our daughter will be 17 months when we visit WDW, and it will be our first time. I'm wondering what works best for this age group? Will the Kelty work? Or should we opt for a Baby Bjorn or stroller?

    Hi Amanda,

We used a Kelty kid carrier for years with our children.  We would tend to use this more on our hiking and backpacking trips.  As you know, it can be cumbersome to put your child in and out of the carrier, and although it appears ideal at the theme parks, I would choose to use a lightweight stroller instead for a number of reasons.  First, if you have an Umbrella stroller with a canopy, your child will have some shelter from the sun.  I also would recommend a stroller that can be laid back so your toddler can take a nap in comfort.  Even though my children have slept in the Kelty backpack, they always look so uncomfortable! You can give your toddler a sippy cup and snacks in the stroller as well.  There is plenty of stroller parking available, but you would almost have to carry the Kelty backpack with you on the attractions.  Having used both the backpack and a stroller, I think the stroller is more convenient and easier for you and your child. Please send me a follow up question, Amanda, if I can help you further.  I hope you have a wonderful vacation.
