I keep reading about a GAC (Guest Assistance Card) What is it, and does it offer different perks(for lack of a better word) than just the fact that my 80 year old mom can't get around without a wheelchair? We always travel with our own manual chair. ty!

Hi Rebecca!  The Guest Assistance Card is given at Guest Relations to parties (up to 5 persons) who are traveling with someone who has a disability.  A cast member will be able to determine what level of GAC your party will need based on the information given by you and your mother.  Once you have a GAC and wish to ride an attraction, this card will alert the cast members attending the queue that you may need to access special seating or utilize a different entrance. If your mom is using her wheelchair for the duration of your trip, you may not need a GAC, as she will be allowed to use the wheelchair accessible entrances.  However, if she has to park her wheelchair outside, and requires assistance to enter the attraction, then a GAC will definitely benefit you and your mom.   In order to expedite receiving a GAC, it has always been my recommendation to obtain a note from her doctor describing her disability.  This makes it easier for the cast member to determine the most appropriate card for her.

I hope that this information comes in handy when planning your trip and thanks for asking!

Hi there! The Disney Parks have been a part of my life since I was a little girl. Introducing my children, husband, and family to all the magic that Walt Disney World can offer has led to countless moments with Mickey and Friends, Disney Vacation Club membership and fun on the high seas with Disney Cruise Lines! Our vacations are usually centered around a visit to the Most Magical Place on Earth, and I am super excited to help you plan and create magical moments for you and your families!
