I keep hearing that you have to purchase a reusable bag when making purchases for merchandise at Disney World. It is just an option or required if you want your items in a bag?

It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jamie! I'm so glad that we can answer your question before you leave for your Walt Disney World Resort vacation tomorrow.

In order to help preserve our environment and reduce the carbon footprint that we all make, Disney is committed to reducing the use of single-use plastics around the Theme Parks and Resort Hotels. You may have noticed that there are no longer plastic straws available at restaurants and now there are reusable shopping bags available for purchase at most merchandise locations! If you don't purchase a reusable bag, a Cast Member will still package your souvenirs in a plastic shopping bag for you to take with you. If you want to do your part to reduce, reuse, and recycle, there are several different sizes of shopping bags available for you to choose from. I always end up bringing home a few each time I go because they keep bringing out new designs and I can't resist them! It's always so nice to have a little bit of that special magic with me, even when I'm just out grocery shopping.

I hope this answers your question, Jamie, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
