Hi Kaylene, My family is interested in vacationing at Disney during Thanksgiving week. Where do you recommend we eat on Turkey Day, preferably outside of the theme parks? Any other tips? Is MVMCP that week? Thx!

    Hi Ca'Sandra,

My family chose Thanksgiving week for our vacation in 2011 and we enjoyed it so much we are going again this November! In fact, fellow Panelists Jonas, Joel, Chris and I all went with our families in 2011 and we had such a fun time!

I absolutely love when the parks are all decked out for the Holidays, but I like to be home for Christmas. Going during Thanksgiving break allows us to enjoy the best of both worlds without my children missing too much school.

We dined at Artist Point for our Thanksgiving dinner (coincidentally, fellow Panelist Jonas did as well). We chose it because of the Americana atmosphere. While the food was absolutely delicious, the price was a bit high in our opinion for a pre-plated Thanksgiving meal. Then again, we were feeding 8 people and most of them were charged adult prices. With 2 adults and 2 young children, you'll find it to be much more affordable. The majority of the Disney restaurants will have special Thanksgiving options on their menus. Even the buffets will often offer special turkey dishes. If you want to eat in a park, Liberty Tree Tavern is the most popular option due to the theme.

Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) is my favorite Special Event at Disney. Depending on which dates you choose to go, you may be able to attend the Party, although, I had to extend my vacation to make it happen. The 2013 dates won't be released until this spring or summer. However, historically, MVMCP is offered the Friday before Thanksgiving and then not again until the Sunday after it. On the 8 days in-between it is usually not offered.

I am out of room, but I'd love to continue to help you plan! Please let me know if I can help and thanks for visiting the Moms Panel,
