Kay, thanks for your answer about the dinner shows. You mentioned getting to Fort Wilderness early to see the pony farm. What time does that close? Is it 5PM? That is our full AK day, so I do not want to leave too early. May stay in FW next visit.

Kimberly you just might fall in love with Fort Wilderness as I have.  I have stayed at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts for the last 10 years and tried the "Fort" to do something different. My husband and I just love the peacefulness and the outdoor feel it provides!

The pony rides are daily weather permitting from 10am - 5pm.  Children must be between 2-8 years of age, not over 80 pounds and under 45 inches.  The last time we took advantage of this the cost was $5.  My grandson still talks about the little horse he rode called Nemo!  Your child will ride and the parent leads the pony around a little walk where you will see many of the beautiful white ponies that often drive Cinderella's coach!

The main horse barn is right next door and is open from 8am-8pm daily.  This is where you can see the large draft horses used in the Magic Kingdom.  If you stop by look for Khan who is the primary horse used to carry the Headless Horseman through the Magic Kingdom during the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  If you see Lance, he pulled my daughters carriage for her wedding!  There is also a small exhibit to see at one end of the barn.

On some days the Blacksmith might be working on the horses in his building next door. His hours are 9-4 but it isn't daily so its hard to plan ahead for that experience.

It sounds like a great day you are planning!
