Hi Kay! I am going to be purchasing a Premier Annual Pass. Are these still paper tickets, or are they the new RFID bracelets? Thanks for your help!

Such a great question Cathy! I just happened to buy my first Disney Premiere Passport this past week so I am fresh on the information!

The new RFID bracelets have not broken ground completely at Walt Disney World. The first testing will start in mid February if that timing stays on track so it will be quite a while before all resorts roll it out completely. The parks are gearing up for this new system with changes in the entrance turnstile area.

The Premiere Passport is a hard card which can be used at both the Walt Disney World parks as well as the parks at Disneyland. It offers a 10% discount on merchandise as well as some other nice perks. Until the Disneyland reverts to the new RFID system you will have the card to use as they are not prepared for this technology. I would think eventually it will be put into place in California if it is a success in Florida but this will be down the road a bit. Disney parks will have to keep the normal queue areas for a long time as guests will be bringing their old non-expiration tickets to use on return trips.

Guest Services were not able to tell me when or if the Annual Passes would also revert to the RFID bracelets but their opinion was they would. I guess we all will have to play the wait and see about the timing but in the mean time enjoy your new gold passport!
