Hi Kay - if we planned a meal near the BC and parked there, could we see Illum. from Int'l Gateway without getting into the craziness of the park crowds? Is there another good vantage point? Thanks from a fellow former midwesterner!

Hi Christine! I love hearing from all of my Disney friends!  I am sure you are happy to be in the south today as we sit looking at the most recent snow on the ground!

You can see the wonderful Illuminations show from just inside the International Gateway.  Since we often stay at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts we like to stand close to the bridge (the one between UK and France) just inside that entrance so we can make the mad dash back to our resort without the crowds of people.

The best way to see Illuminations is to enter the park. Views from outside will have vegetation and building obstructions and much of this show is water level. If the bridge area is quite crowded then head right or left to find a good viewing position. If private parties are not taking place there are a few wonderful spots down by the water between Uk and France.  Check out those spots!  Any place around the water from any country will give you a wonderful viewing....be sure trees are not in your way!  One last suggestion...check to see what direction the wind is blowing as we do not like to stand where the smoke and ash will be blowing into us.  By moving just a little you can avoid this.

Last but not least, you might consider a wonderful fireworks pontoon cruise that leaves from the Yacht and Beach Club resort marina.  You can consider having dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse or Flying Fish and then a dessert delivered to your boat to enjoy while riding on the waters down to the Hollywood Studios before settling in under the bridge for the enjoyment of the show.  You can call 407-939-7529 for information and reservations.  This viewing spot is spectacular!

I hope you are able to make some wonderful reservations.  I love being able to come and go from the International Gateway as it is not as crowded!  If there is anything else I can suggest or help you with just let me know!
