Hi Kay - We normally go to Disney in the last week of October, but are considering the first week in June. How crowded do you think it will be compared to October? Thanks!! P.S. We lived in Valpo for 5 years and we loved it!

Wow what a great surprise to find your message in my box this morning!  We also love Valparaiso and have been here for about 4 years now!

Now to your question!    Crowds are so hard to predict and especially in years when we aren't sure how the economy is affecting family vacations and travel. In the past June will be more crowded then the fall months due to schools across the country being on holiday.  From Memorial Day through mid August you will find heavy crowds in the parks.  October can also be crowded between the Halloween draw and the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival but I find it easier to handle.

I think for you it would be wise to think about some of the other variables for your family.  Weather is one.........you will generally find pleasant and cooler temperatures in October and very hot and humid temperatures in the month of June.  Summer months bring almost daily rain showers in the afternoon hours as well.  If you don't mind the heat of the summer in Florida then you can try vacationing at that time.  I know for my family the hotter it is the more stressful as patience seems to disappear in both children and adults!

The other factor in deciding the best time for your vacation is what else is going on at Walt Disney World for those dates.  The fall months include such fun events as Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.  Those are added bonuses to a trip during that time.

Any time is a great time for me at Disney.  With careful planning you can enjoy the parks and recreation even on the most crowded days.  Pick the time that suits your family and go with it and enjoy!
