Hi Kay, I have met you before, I live next to Jen and Brian. We are going in Oct for our 1st visit with our 5 yr old for 8 days for her b-day. What are the "must visit" attractions? Also, which resort do you prefer, the Coronado or Port Orleans R

Hi Melinda!  Great to hear from a neighbor so to speak!

October is a great time to visit and since you will be down there for 8 days I would strongly recommend you visiting all four theme parks and also Downtown Disney and possibly a water park if weather permits.  Since every five year old is different on likes and dislikes I would start by going to the disney site and filtering their ideas for age appropriate attractions.  You can click HERE and then on the left side click on RECOMMENDED AGES and then check the correct box for that.  You will see a nice listing for all four parks that include short descriptions of each.  You can also check on height and other restrictions for rides at this location.

Of course I have my favorites but probably don't have room to list them for all parks.  The best way for me to do this would be for you to send individual questions to me regarding each park and then I can go into detail.  It is great that you will have a lot of time to spend there as you will be able to see so much and experience a lot of magic for 8 days!  I just returned from a 10 day visit and although it rained for most of that time we had so much fun once again!

Both Coronado Springs and Port Orleans are wonderful resorts.  I usually steer guests to Port Orleans because of its great location to Downtown Disney.  You can take a boat there in the evening to enjoy that area.  You can see some wonderful pictures of this resort by going to portorleans.org.  Coronado Springs is also very nice as your second choice especially if you are in one of the newly renovated rooms.  It is a business convention resort but I have never found that to be a deterrent.

I look forward to sharing more about the attractions with you at each park in separate questions!
