Hi Kay! Love the Panel - it's been such a big help. I saw your answer about Disney Dollars & loved the idea to make it a tradition for our annual trips. My DS is 2.9 & the only little one right now - any ideas how to introduce/incorporate this grea

Hi Alyssa!  I apologize for my late response but so excited to hear about your interest with Disney Dollars!

My children and grandchildren learned early what they were as we have played our game since they started making these great special dollars available. It actually started with my own parents!  We like to have envelopes for each dinner (or each meal but that can be expensive) where we put one Disney ten dollar bill inside, one Disney five dollar bill inside, and one Disney one dollar bill inside.  Then I put stickers on the envelopes and let everyone choose. No-one is allowed to open them until all have chosen and then together we tear the envelopes up to see if we were lucky to get the big dollars!

The younger kids will not totally understand the ramifications about what they are getting in the envelopes but trust me they will learn quickly that this is a great game and that there is a surprise inside.  My grandsons announce to all that they have won even if they only find a single Disney dollar! It adds to the excitement and they often remind me that it is time for the envelopes!  Beyond the young children the adults still get into this as they do understand what is inside. My own children are 28 and 30 and they have never stopped asking for the game to be played!

Since the grandchildren are still a bit young to understand about the use of money we often gather their dollars and turn them back into the normal currency before we leave. This then goes home with them and into their piggy banks for future use!  You can get Disney dollars at the resort front desks and concierge desks but the best spot is at the Guest Service areas in the parks. Since we buy large quantities we have found that the Magic Kingdom always seems to have what we need in all three denominations.

Make up your own game and start your own tradition. For us the Disney Dollar Game continues on after almost thirty years and four generations!
