    Karen, I see that you are a vacation club member and my husband and I are on the fence about joining. what do you see as the perks of joining? what are the cons of joining? thanks for your help.

    Thank you for your question!  There are a lot of folks just like you that are considering buying a membership in the Disney Vacation Club.   I firmly believe that DVC was the best investment in family fun we've made!

     

    In my experience, the biggest benefits are:

    • Accommodations – These are deluxe villas that truly feel like a home away from home.  For our family of five we typically the 2-BR villas which boast a full kitchen, two bathrooms, washer & dryer and plenty of space.
    • Flexibility – We truly enjoy the ability to travel to WDW when we want and for duration that fits our schedule.  There are plenty of resort options that allow us to try something new every vacation.
    • Member benefits – There is always a hearty selection of “member perks” for members to take advantage of.  These are subject to change, but often include things such as discounts on annual park passes, pool hopping, merchandise/dining discounts and much more!

    The initial investment is probably the biggest con, but it is really pays for itself after just a few vacations.  Unlike the ever inflating resort prices, you lock in your resort price and enjoy years of vacation opportunities off your initial investment.  If you plan on visiting WDW at least once every 1-2 years DVC is definitely worth considering.  
     

    If you have the opportunity to take a tour of the model units, and spend a little time with a vacation club advisor I highly suggest you do it.  They are ready and willing to address your questions and concerns…without any pressure to buy.  Good luck with your decision!
