Hi Karen - I read that you arrive in Orlando the night before your curise and stay at a hotel. How does that work with your checked baggage. Do you have to retreive it and take to hotel and then bring back to the airport for the shuttle to the ship?

    Hi Michelle,

Yes, we typically fly in the night before our cruise (coming from the Northeast I worry about winter weather).  By booking a room at the Hyatt inside Orlando International Airport we can avoid having to get on a shuttle, or hailing a taxi.  We simply disembark the plane, head down to baggage claim to gather our luggage and then proceed upstairs to the Hyatt front desk.

Now the procedure for the cruise day has been tweaked a bit over the years - but as long as you mention upon check-in that you are going on the Disney Cruise the following morning, they will provide you with a written sheet of instructions.  We have had voyages where our bags were taken from our Hyatt guest room and transferred to the ship (as long as you've paid for the Disney transfers), but I have heard reports of bringing your luggage down to the Magical Express counter in the morning as well.  You will receive the most up-to-date information upon check-in.

So yes, you need to retrieve your bags from baggage claim if flying in the night before.

    I hope this helps!
