Hi Karen, We'll be cruising on the DCL 3/2011. What time do you think we should arrive at the DCL terminal in order to get on the ship about 1:30? Will we be able to eat lunch on the ship that day? Thanks! Leah

    Hi Leah,

Welcome to the Moms Panel, and thank you for your question!  When to arrive is really a matter of preference.  I like to get there early in an attempt to get in one of the first few boarding groups.  Once onboard we have time to take a swim (and the pool is usually empty at this time).  We then grab some lunch before most guests have even arrived.

The terminal typically opens between 10-10:30 a.m., and guests are given a boarding number on a first-come first-served basis.  The earlier you arrive at port the lower boarding number you will receive.  Once the boarding process begins, guests are boarded in groups based on their boarding number.  DCL states that boarding begins at 1:00 p.m., however in my experience they have started much earlier, usually between 11:30-noon (keep in mind this has been my experience and not a guarantee).

The busiest time at the port is normally around 1-2 p.m. so if you can't arrive early I would suggest arriving after 2:00 to avoid the long lines.

Lunch will be available at several locations upon boarding, but keep in mind that lunch service will end around 3:30 in preparation for the mandatory Boat Drill.  Upon check-in you will receive the Personal Navigator for the day which will list the dining times and locations.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions!
