Hi Karen! My brother is a DVC member and we're staying at AKV in Oct using his points (So nice.) He won't be with my family. But, do we still get the DVC benefits (Pool hop, discounts, etc?) Or does he need to be with us for that?

    Hi Erin,

How nice of your brother!  One of the things I love about our Disney Vacation Club membership is the ability to legitimately treat our family and friends to a resort stay using our points.  Most other timeshare programs do not allow this, so I really appreciate my DVC!

Unfortunately, this tends to be a bit of a gray area.  In my experience, to obtain discounts on dining or to pool hop I have been required to show my blue DVC Membership Card.  Not every time, but it can be hit or miss.  More than likely your Key to the World Card will have "DVC MEMBER" imprinted on it, which may be good enough to score some perks.  Since you are staying on points, and your brother has not received any compensation for this reservation I would simply ask - it couldn't hurt!

    Good luck!
