Hello, Jill,
What great fun to be surprising your sons with a trip to Walt Disney World! You'll have so many unforgettable moments together! Since you are planning on a 2 day visit, I am imagining that you'll be spending quite a bit of time in the parks to make the most of those 2 days. Because of this, I think going with a less-expensive option for a resort would be something to consider. As a family of 5, the following moderate resorts are lots of fun with all the Disney perks, but still more budget-friendly:
Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside and
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. When our sons were younger, we stayed many times at Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside and found it a good match for our needs.
As for the parks, I would make sure to include the Magic Kingdom as it epitomizes so much of the Disney experience and has a wide variety of attractions for both thrill-seekers and those seeking calmer options. You can also easily slip away for a meal and/or a break by hoping on the monorail to visit a nearby resort.
If you'd really like to make the most of your 2 days, there are
VIP tours available that focus on thrill rides or young families' interests. Through these services, you can really experience the best of more than one park. It is a splurge, but one I thought you might like to know about.
Just a few ideas to help you as you begin planning. If you have more questions, please let us know. We are happy to help. Wishing you a magical trip! -
Kara
