Hi Kara - I'm so glad to see you back on the panel! My kids are intrigued by those Vinylmation figures some of their friends have brought home from Disney trips, but I don't really understand them. What can you tell me?

Hello Erin! Thank you for the warm welcome as I return to Moms Panel.

Vinylmations are delightful little Mickey-shapred collectible figurines that I have found to be highly addictive as they capture so many, many wonderful things that are Disney themed from characters, parks, attractions, & even food through their design that vary in size from 1.5 to 3 to 9 inches.

The Vinylmations are released in different themed series such as Parks, Urban Designs, Toy Story, Villians, Muppets, and Star Wars (a favorite of mine!). When purchased, most are in sealed boxes so you don't know which you are going to receive.  But don't worry if you end up with one you don't like or already have, throughout all of Walt Disney World there are places where you can trade the figurines, & the trading is shown in this video. And of course, they are for sale all over WDW, too.

If you visit the Disney Store at www.disneystore.com, you can often find Vinylmations at a discount, which can help to get you started & have some for trading for a future WDW trip. While at WDW, you may want to set aside some time to visit D-Street in Downtown Disney and consider decorating your own Vinylmation.

You can learn more about them & see examples at the official Disney vinylmation website here, but a quick Google search of them will yield you many other websites.

    Happy collecting!
