Hey there, hi there, ho there, Jill! You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney! I am delighted to hEAR you and your ‘ohana are planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth this summer. It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that I offer you some tips to make your vacation even more magical. I invite you to sit back, relax and Be Our Guest!
Each of the Disneyland Resort hotels has something special to offer. If I must pick, my favorite is
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The elegant, woodsy ambiance and the warmth that envelops you as you enter the lobby is pure magic. The proximity to the theme parks is incredibly convenient. This hotel is attached to Disney California Adventure Park so with a few steps you are directly inside the theme park! This is very helpful if anyone in your ‘ohana needs a little rest during the day. I also love staying at the
Disneyland Hotel. The retro vibe at this hotel is timeless. You'll feel the inspiration of Walt Disney as you stroll through the lobby and soak in the classic black and white photographs telling the story of the inception of Disneyland Park and the Disneyland Hotel. The iconic
Disneyland Monorail is a quick walk from the hotel and will take you directly into Disneyland Park, where you will disembark in Tomorrowland. Very close to the Disneyland Resort there are a number of Good Neighbor Hotels, my favorite being the
Fairfield Inn by Marriott Anaheim Resort. It is across the street from the Disneyland Resort main entrance, so it’s a relatively quick walk. This hotel has quaint Disney-inspired décor and rooms and is a great option if you’re looking to stay off property but within walking distance.
Dining reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance and I strongly encourage you to book right when the window opens! I love the classic feel and comfort food of
Carnation Café on Main Street, U.S.A..
Lamplight Lounge has a beautiful view of the Pixar Pier and the cocktails and bites are delicious! The Downtown Disney District has amazing restaurants as well, one of our favorites being
Tortilla Jo’s, with tasty, south-of-the-border dishes and festive decor.
Be sure to stop by a Disney gift shop and pick up “I’m Celebrating…” or “1st Visit” buttons for everyone in your party. You may get a little extra magic and attention from Cast Members as they notice your buttons!
I have been on many Disneyland Resort trips with my parents and kiddos and can honestly say there is something for every Mouseketeer to enjoy. Be sure to check out the
entertainment schedule as this can be a great way to get off your feet and enjoy a little break. My parents found places to relax and people watch while the more energetic, younger Mouseketeers in our party zipped around the park.
I hope your visit is practically perfect in every way! Please pop in again if you have more questions as you plan your trip. We’re all EARS!
