Hi Kamini... WDW is my home park, but my family will be visiting DL and DCA in September (we're attending the D23 Expo). Flying in from FL, which airport woukd be best or easiest to fly in/out of? Thanks!

Hiya, Kimberly! Thanks for swinging by planDisney with your question. Oh boy, you must be so excited to be heading to the D23 Expo this September! I’m glad you were able to snag tickets while they were available! I have always wanted to attend D23 and am hopeful I might just make it there for a day this year – fingers crossed!

Kimberly, though the John Wayne Airport (SNA) is the closest to the Disneyland Resort (approximately 15 miles), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a larger airport and will have more flights available to you from Florida (particularly nonstop flights, if that is a priority for you.) I would start with checking flights to SNA. If you can find something to your liking, this option is ideal as you’ll get to the Happiest Place on Earth faster! I have used rideshare apps from the airport to Disneyland Resort Hotels and paid approximately $30-40. The pricing could vary, but I’m just sharing my experience. Though I have not used it myself, Karmel Shuttle is recommended on the Disneyland Resort site, which picks up at the Ground Transportation Center. I would check them out in advance for reservations.

If you end up finding better flight options into LAX, you’ll be approximately 40 miles from Disneyland Resort. Karmel Shuttle operates there as well, as noted on the Disneyland Resort site.
SNA is ideal, provided you can find the flights you want. But LAX is also a good option, particularly because you’ll have more flight options.

Kimberly, have you already looked into hotel options for your trip? I recommend staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel for proximity to the parks, or at a Good Neighbor Hotel within walking distance (Fairfield Inn by Marriott Anaheim Resort being my favorite, a quick five minute walk to the main entrance.) You'll find Disneyland Resort much different than Walt Disney World Resort in terms of sheer size – you can walk between the two theme parks and all three resort hotels within a matter of minutes! We love being able to reach the theme parks by foot when we stay there, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa being our favorite. It is attached to Disney California Adventure Park and the ambiance is pure magic. The Anaheim Convention Center is only one mile from the main entrance to the theme parks, so any of the Disneyland Resort Hotels will give you convenient access to both D23 and the theme parks. Several of the Good Neighbor Hotels will too!

If you're a Marvel fan, you will love the new Avengers Campus! My WDW Resort friends look forward to experiencing the magic unique to Disneyland Resort that they can't get in Florida.

I’m so excited just thinking about your trip and I bet you are too. If you think of more planning questions about attractions, dining and entertainment that is unique to Disneyland Resort, we are hEAR for you!
