    we r going on july 19th to 25th. I have been thinking about getting a guide book to read before going or to have when we get there. Would you recommend getting one and which one? It seems a lot of info you can get on the web.

    Although I love reading Disney websites, there's something about having it "all" at my fingertips!  Whenever a friend of mine is considering whether to get a Disney guide book, I heartily recommend one.  I think you'll find the small investment will give you a big return when it comes to tips on saving time and money!  Many now provide maps and lists that will make your pre-planning easier!  There are many on the market, but here are my recommendations:

    • I personally use the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (and purchase a new one every year), but I have noticed that the book gets larger and larger every year and, quite honestly, is a hefty read.  But if you like a lot of detailed information like ride times between the parks, room dimensions, and restaurant reviews, you'll learn A LOT.
    • A better book for first-time Disney travelers is the Complete Idiot's Guide to Walt Disney World written by fellow Mom's Panelist Doug Ingersoll.  I like to call it a Cliffs Notes version of some of the more detailed guides out there and is good for folks who don't feel the need for extensive detail.  What I enjoy about the book is its advice on how to choose a Disney resort and its honest reviews of the restaurants.
    • Another good book that I have not personally used, but many of my fellow panelists recommend is the Passporter's Guide to Disney.  It is for folks who enjoy the planning of a trip as much as the trip itself, as it includes budgeting lists, packing lists, and maps of the parks and resorts.
    You can probably find all of these on www.amazon.com (and look at their table of contents) and get a glimpse of what they offer and what might be a good fit for you!
