Hi Jonas, we've decided to book at AKL for Nov. Can you tell me the difference in the 2 savannah rooms? Are they a lot farther from food/pool/buses? If we stay in a reg room will we still get to see lots of animals? Thanks so much!

    Hi Angela:

Animal Kingdom Lodge is made up of two Resorts, Jambo House and Kidani Village. The Resorts are close by to each other, and can be reached via a short bus ride or via walkway (about a 15 minute walk). Some savanna view rooms offer either two queen-size beds or one king-size bed, while other savanna rooms offer one queen-size bed and bunk beds. Click here for a description of the rooms and room amenities.

Of the savannas, many guests enjoy the Arusha savanna, where they are usually able to spot a number of zebras and other animals. The Resorts are laid out like necklaces (actually, "Kidani" is the Swahili word for "necklace"), and savanna-view rooms are laid out across the "necklace." The further down either side of the "necklace" your room is located, the further the walk to the lobby, pool and bus areas. During our last stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, our room was the furthest away from the lobby area. It resulted in a few extra minutes of walking. However, we did not mind the stroll because the Animal Kingdom Lodge is laid out brilliantly with many widows along the Resort's hallways overlooking the savannas. As we walked to our Resort room (which had a savanna view), we usually ended up stopping along the way to watch the animals walking through the savanna. If your room does not have a savanna view, there are other savanna viewing spots located in the Resort. At our last stay at Jambo House, my family sat in a savanna viewing room balcony (open to everyone) to watch the animals. If you want a Room close to the lobby, contact the Resort a few days before check-in. Room-requests are not guaranteed, but if Disney is able to honor your request, they will make every effort to do so.

    Enjoy your vacation.
