Are John Smith and Phoebus still available for meet and greets? We'd like to know this for planning since a couple people in our group are dying to meet them.

    Hiya Rosa,

Welcome to planDisney! I love your question! Many Guests seek out the Disney Princesses and the Fab Five when they visit Walt Disney World Resort, but some of my favorite character interactions are with the rare characters such as Genie (which I caught at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party) and Koda from Brother Bear.

While I wish I could tell you that John Smith and Captain Phoebus have been spotted at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the France Pavilion at EPCOT, we haven’t seen them out and about recently. I’m not sure when you are planning to visit, but there may still be hope that you can make some dreams come true, especially as more and more of our favorites keep returning each day. To check and see what meet-and-greet opportunities are available during your visit, look no further than the My Disney Experience mobile app. Simply open your My Disney Experience mobile app and select the map icon (second choice on the bottom of the screen). At the top, you should see “Wait Times” and an arrow. Click the arrow and select “Characters.” Once you choose that, I like to click the “Show List” option in the right-hand corner since it is easier to see who is out and about across all four theme parks at that exact time. Be sure to check daily, and maybe with a bit of “faith, hope, and pixie dust,” John Smith and Captain Phoebus will make a surprise appearance.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and hope magic happens. Have the most fantastic time during your visit!

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
