Hi Joel, I would like to get your opinion on some dates. Planning our 2012 trip and we have dates in mind, Apr. 10-15 (before spr.bk) or Oct 30-Nov 4. Out of those 2 which will be the best for low crowds and are they both consider value season? Tks!

Hi, Amanda! Thanks for the question and seeking my opinion (take THAT second grade girlfriend who said nobody cared what I thought!)

Good idea planning ahead for a 2012 vacation. I would lean toward the Oct. 30 to Nov. 4, 2012 timeframe.

The parks will have big crowds from April 10 to April 15 in 2012. Easter will be on Sun., April 8, 2012. A good deal of people will still be hanging around the duration of the week. As it is the week of Easter, the bulk of your vacation will be classified as peak/holiday season, and resort prices (and some meal prices) will be hiked accordingly.

Crowd levels will be way more manageable from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4, 2012. For example, during this time period in 2011, TouringPlans.com is predicting crowd levels to be very low (crowd levels averaging a 2 out of 10.) I'd expect crowd levels to be similar next year. Plus, resort prices will be lower and you'll be able to take advantage of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party during your trip. On the tail end of your trip, you might even get to see the parks decked out in their Christmas decorations.

Long story short: go in the fall.
