My job prevents me from visiting the Disneyland Resort during the Holiday season. I have a retirement date in mind for 2027. How far out can I plan a trip to stay at the Grand Californian to celebrate retirement and the Holiday season.

    Hey there Ian,

Welcome back to planDisney, thanks so much for your question, and happy early retirement! I can't think of many ways to celebrate such a big milestone better than a visit to the Disneyland Resort during the Holiday season

Typically, hotel reservations open up in late summer or early fall of the preceding year. However, from what I've noticed over the last few years, when the hotel reservations open up for the following year, the entire calendar typically becomes available all at once. This means that if this trend continues for the next few years then you should be able to book your retirement celebration trip in late 2026 for a visit during the Holiday season of 2027. While that is still a couple of years out - I have a feeling it'll be here before we know it!

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is a wonderful place to stay to mark this occasion! Make sure to plan at least one celebratory fancy dinner as well! I'd suggest either Carthay Circle Restaurant in Disney California Adventure Park or Napa Rose in Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Both have delicious food & beverage options you can enjoy in elegant settings.

Thanks again for your question, Ian! I hope you have a fantastic time celebrating your retirement. Make sure to come back and see us as you get closer to your trip with any follow-up questions you think of. We'd love to help!

    Have a Magical Day,
