Jim, My wife and I are planning a family vacation with our three kids (boy - 11, girls 7 and 5) Would Early July or Late August be better? Weather, lines, etc? Best resort for a family?

    Hi James,

Summer in Florida is HOT!!  So, whether you go in early July or late August, you'll need to make sure you have plenty of sunscreen, stay hydrated and find opportunities to get out of the heat.  Since the weather will be pretty similar throughout the summer, I recommend traveling in late August.  Early July is one of the most crowded times to head to Walt Disney World - especially around Independence Day.  By late August a lot of families are heading back to school, so the crowds lessen quite a bit.

As far as resorts go, if your budget allows Beach Club is my favorite resort for a family of five.  You're within walking distance of both Epcot and Hollywood Studios (although, the Hollywood Studios walk is might be a little too long for your 5 year old).  Besides that, the pool at Beach Club is fantastic!

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
