Hi Jill! We received free QS dining plan and my 10 yrs picky eater son loves mac and cheese. Is it possible to ask this from childrens menu using 1 adult credit? Any ideas for best use of our QS and snack credits? Thanks.

    Hi Eliane,

Oh, I love Disney dining questions!  Thank you so much for posting your question to my personal queue.

If you wish to redeem one of your son's adult quick service credits for a child's meal, chances are very good that the manager at the restaurant where you're dining will grant that request.  However, I recommend against you doing this.  Financially, it just doesn't make sense.  You would be better off to pay out-of-pocket for your son's child-size portion of macaroni and cheese, thus preserving that adult quick service credit to use at another time.  You only get two quick service credits per person each day so you could easily use that credit for a third meal (breakfast, perhaps?) instead of wasting it on a kid's meal at lunch or dinner time.

In general, I would plan to use your quick service credits for lunch and dinner each day as breakfasts are typically less expensive.  Often times you will be able to find an item that fits into the snack category on the Disney Dining Plan (DDP) that will serve as a delightful breakfast.  I particularly enjoy some of the resort's amazing muffins, bagels, or pastries.

My family uses the DDP often and we like to make a game of finding the most expensive item that qualifies as a snack on the plan.  We don't waste our snack credits on bottled beverages or other items in the $2 range.  Oh, no!  If you get a snack that normally sells for $4, then you've used your snack credits wisely.  One of the best (and most enjoyable) bargains we've found so far using a DDP snack credit are the brownie and strawberry shortcake sundaes at Storybook Treats in the Magic Kingdom.  But there are so many great choices!  Check out the list of suggestions on the independent fan site, www.disneyfoodblog.com.

Let me know if you have any more questions.  I'd love to help!
