For the Jedi Training Academy in Disneyland, do you have to pre sign up when the park opens like in Florida? Or do you just do the old raise the hand & hope you get picked?

    Galactic Greetings Jeff,

The Jedi Training Academy at Disneyland works a little differently than that of Walt Disney World!  At Disneyland Park, the Padawan participants are randomly chosen from the audience prior to the show so it's important to show up early to snag a spot up front.  Although being chosen to participate is never guaranteed, it seems as if standing out may increase your chances of being selected as one of the 25-30 Padawan trainees.

Reportedly, it helps to wear some sort of Star Wars themed clothing!  I have seen T-shirts galore but in my experience, those wearing Jedi Robes and wielding light sabers are almost always chosen.  I have also seen those who have created "Pick Me" signs pulled from the audience.  On our last trip, the family sitting next to us had made an elaborate "The Force is With Us" sign and both Jedi-robed children were selected!

As I said, none of this is guaranteed, but in my opinion, may help your chances!  Be sure to arrive early and try to move to the front of the seating area!  And most importantly, look and act like the Force is with you!  The Jedis are on the lookout for energetic and excited recruits!

    Best Wishes,
