Hi Shawna,
The
Jedi Training Academy (JTA) at Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS) is out of this world fun for kids! Its is located next to Star Tours. During our recent visit, they were holding registration at Sound Dangerous with Drew Carey. The location may vary but it will be held in an area near the JTA stage - just ask any Cast Member in that area. There were several Cast Members there who were directing potential Padawans participants to the registration area. It wasn't anything fancy or well-marked, just a Cast Member with a clipboard but they got the job done very efficiently.
On the day I visited they started sign-ups during the morning Extra Magic Hours. Just another perk for staying at a Disney Resort Hotel. If you are staying at a Disney Resort & it works into your schedule, you could visit DHS on a morning they are offering EMHs. If you aren't staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel and JTA is a must do, I'd plan to visit DHS on a day when they are not offering morning Extra Magic Hours.
If you want to have breakfast at Hollywood & Vine, try to get a reservation early enough so that you have enough time to enjoy breakfast and get to see all the characters without having to rush out for JTA sign ups. When I'm paying for a character meal, I like to allow myself enough time to enjoy it.
Unless you are visiting during a peak season, I think you'll have a good shot of getting a spot if you have gone through security and are at the turnstiles at least 30 minutes in advance. Just head towards JTA first. Make sure you have your young Jedi with you. They ask all Padawans a couple of questions to make sure they can follow directions before signing up.
Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison
