    This is Jeanie from MI again - only 29 days to go before hubby & I come to WDW for the first time! Can we mail souvenirs home so that we don't have to worry about them surviving the flight home? We are staying at AKL if that helps. Thanks!

    Wow! Your first trip to Walt Disney World is only 29 days away...you must be so excited!

    Regarding mailing your purchases home, this is actually a really great idea, and it's something we do just about every trip to WDW.

    When you make a purchase at a WDW shop, be sure to ask about shipping your purchases to your home address. This will be an easy task for the Cast Member on the other side of the register, as it simply requires a form to be inserted into the register (your shipping information) as well as a certain code to be entered before settling up the final sale. Because you'll be shipping your purchases out of state,  you'll save on FL state tax, a bonus that helps to offset the cost of the shipping, too.

    We do this whenever the weight of our checked bags is a concern, when the items are fragile, over-sized or heavy and when we don't have checked bags but have purchased something with liquid in it, such as a snow globe. Your purchases at WDW park and resort shops, as well as those at Downtown Disney can easily be shipped home; you'll have the peace of mind knowing that they'll be wrapped perfectly and sent safely to your home address.

    Out of the dozens of shipments we've sent one, only one, a set of Christmas tree ornaments, arrived broken. That, too, took a simple phone call to fix and another set was sent to us just a few days later.

    BTW, you're going to LOVE Animal Kingdom Lodge, too! :-)
