If we are going January 7th and January 8th, can we start at California adventure then switch after 11 to Disneyland

Hi there, Jordain! Thank you for bringing your question to planDisney, we’re happy to help you make the most of your upcoming visit!

This is a great question, and I’m happy to say the answer is yes. If you have a Park Hopper ticket, you can absolutely start your day at Disney California Adventure Park and then switch over to Disneyland Park anytime after 11:00 a.m. Just be sure your theme park reservation for each day is set for Disney California Adventure as your starting park, and once that hopper window opens, you’re free to park-hop your heart out, subject to capacity limits. Think of it as warming up in DCA and then heading next door for the classics, the best of both worlds!

January 7th and 8th are wonderful times to visit. The holiday rush has wrapped up, kids are heading back to school, and the parks often feel a bit more relaxed, which makes hopping between parks even easier. I love starting mornings in Disney California Adventure with attractions like Radiator Springs Racers or Toy Story Midway Mania!, then grabbing a bite before making the short walk over to Disneyland Park once hopping begins. After 11:00 a.m., it’s the perfect time to enjoy slower-paced favorites like Pirates of the Caribbean, "it’s a small world", or a stroll down Main Street, U.S.A. with a snack in hand—because no Disney day is complete without at least one treat!

Jordain, the Holiday Celebration at Disneyland officially ends on January 7th, so you’ll be catching the tail end of the festive décor and seasonal attractions. While the decorations don’t disappear overnight, you may notice some changes and a bit less holiday sparkle on January 8th.

You’ll also be visiting during the Disneyland 70th Celebration, which adds an extra layer of magic to your trip. You can expect celebratory décor, special entertainment, and fun touches throughout the resort that honor Disneyland’s history and legacy. It’s a great excuse to pause, snap a few photos, and soak in the nostalgia, after all, you’re celebrating 70 years of happy here!

Jordain, with a Park Hopper ticket and a flexible plan, your January visit is shaping up to be practically perfect in every way. Start in Disney California Adventure, hop over to Disneyland Park after 11, and let the magic unfold, because when it comes to park hopping, this plan is a step in time… and the right direction!

    Many magical memories to you,
