We are going January 4 - 12... only half of our dates are eligible for the free dining. What do you suggest for a family with only these dates available and on a tight budget???

    Hi Elizabeth!

The free dining offer is valid for check-in dates between 1/8 and 1/12 2012.  You will need to check-in on the 8th to get Free Dining.  Since you can't change your plans, that means having two reservations.  One with check-in on the 4th and one with check-in on the 8th.  You can explain to the Cast Member at check-in what's going on and request that you stay in the same room, etc.  However, there is no guarantee that will happen!

i recommend looking at the various menus for the different restaurants at Walt Disney World.  Then you can decide which ones offer food you and your party would enjoy and at reasonable cost.  The independent website AllEars.Net does a great job keeping their information up to date and you can find all of the menus on their site.

A good way to reduce dining expenses is to eat breakfast back in your room and to eat a large lunch in the parks.  Then you can eat a smaller dinner (usually more expensive than lunch).  I also recommend bringing snacks from home.  Granola bars and trail mix make a good snack for the parks.  Also remember that you can get a free cup of water at any counter service (fast food) location.  That will save you a lot of money compared to buying bottled water everywhere!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
