Hey, Corey! Seeing your question brought me so much joy! I'm thrilled you hit pause on your run to stop by planDisney with this question. The satisfaction of training for a
runDisney weekend while on a
Walt Disney World vacation is something I can feel in my
sole.
With your stay at
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, you have several
running paths to log some miles.
The easiest route is a path between the Grand Floridian and the
Polynesian Village Resort. Can you think of anything more magical than running by Seven Seas Lagoon with a view of
Cinderella Castle and the
Disney Monorail whizzing by overhead? This route is about a mile each way. You can catch the path near the Beach Pool and follow it by the Wedding Pavilion and on to the Moorea Building at the Polynesian. If you want to add an extension, you can
just keep running to the Transportation & Ticket Center.
If you're looking to go the distance, the Swamp Trail at
Disney's Fort Wilderness may be another good option. Surrounded by trees and Spanish moss, this mile-and-a-half loop may be a bit cooler in the Florida sunshine. You can take the resort ferry from Magic Kingdom to Disney's Fort Wilderness to find this path. The boats start running about an hour before the Magic Kingdom opens, so you can check the
My Disney Experience app for park times to get a sense of when you can hop on board.
If your training plan includes some
stretch goals, you may want to add Storytime Yoga to your vacation workout plans. This special class is usually offered on Mondays at 10:30 a.m. on the Courthouse Lawn, one of the many splendid amenities at the Grand Floridian. Be sure to check for signs around the lobby and pools for information on all the recreation and activities available during your stay.
If you have not yet added Shokz to your workout gear, I fell in love with these headphones at a
runDisney event and cannot imagine running without them. They are a perfect companion while running alongside pedestrians and even a few golf carts, allowing you to enjoy your favorite tunes while staying aware of your surroundings.
Corey, the runs on your vacation may not end in a medal or cheese-like deliciousness and a banana, but I have no doubt this will be the most rewarding trip ever! And if your next
runDisney race is
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, I hope to see you on the Starting Line—or maybe
Beaches & Cream Soda Shop for a Kitchen Sink afterward. We will have earned it!
It's a
Runderful Life!
