Hi Jackie, Why can one not buy a Dining Plan by itself, without a "Vacation Package"? I'm told that you have to buy a one-day base ticket to get the Dining Plan, even if you already have a 4-Day Pass. Thanks, 55 days til WDW!

    Hi Edward!

Wow - you have discovered one of the MOST frustrating aspects of the Dining Plan!  It is designed to be a "reward" or benefit to those guests who have purchased a Walt Disney World Travel Plan.  In that respect, I think it is wonderful and a great incentive for folks to purchase all aspects of their vacation through the WDW Travel Company.  On the other hand, it seems really unfair to FL residents and Annual Passholders who visit the parks frequently, but who don't need to purchase a package deal.  Unfortunately, that's the way the Mickey shaped cookie crumbles!

It is always worth it to crunch the numbers and see if purchasing a one day base ticket to get the FREE dining is a good deal.   Have a great weekend!

    Much pixie dust,

    Jackie S.
