    Hi Jackie! We are planning our trip to Disney world and we previously had bought magic bands 5 years ago. These Magic bands are still activated but kids have change their mind and what to exchange the colors would we be able to change them if we like to?

    Hey there, Lorena. Welcome to planDisney. Thanks for stopping by to chit-chat with me about your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. 

    I'm so excited to know that you'll be visiting Walt Disney World in a few months, Lorena. Your trip will be here before you know it! When it comes to your MagicBands, they have a life expectancy of around 2 years. However, I have and use a MagicBand from longer ago than that and it works fine. I wanted to mention this first because even though it is listed as active in your MyDisneyExperience account, doesn't actually mean that the MagicBand is still on and working properly. To check this, when you arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you happen to be staying at, you can have the friendly Cast Member that is helping you check your bands. They will be able to tell if they are on and working for you during your stay. If you aren't staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you can always stop by Guest Relations at the entrance of any Walt Disney World Theme Park to test them out. 

    If your kids would like a different MagicBand, you can purchase them at almost every merchandise location throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. There are so many color options and designs to choose from now, they would have fun picking a new one out. MagicBands are not complimentary anymore, so this would need to be something you purchase out of pocket. If you decide to pick new ones up, linking them to your MyDisneyExperience account is really simple. All of the directions for this are listed on the back of the MagicBand packaging. 

    If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you are eligible to pre-purchase a MagicBand and have it shipped to your home before your trip. To do this, log in to your MyDisneyExperience account. Then find the "My MagicBands & Cards" section. From there, you should see where you can purchase MagicBands for your select party and the button to "Get Started". This will take you through the process of prepurchasing new MagicBands for you all.

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
