What is Jack Sparrow's Pirate tutorial in Adventureland? How are children chosen? We already have Pirate league reservations, is this separate from the pirate parade? I am confused - and my son is a HUGE fan of the movies!! Thanks again.

    Hi Deanna,

I am a HUGE Pirates of the Caribbean movies too!

Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Tutorial takes place across from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom.  It is super cute! A few times a day, Captain Jack comes out with his first mate Mack. They do a little comic routine & then recruit aspiring young pirates to join his crew. The kids take the Pirate Oath & Captain Jack teaches them how to be rescued from a desert island by using a swordplay trick to escape the enemy.  Of course everyone joins in to sing "Yo Ho A Pirate's Life for Me".

Captain Jack typically chooses 4 - 5 kids a session to join his crew. Kids are randomly chosen. Every time I've seen this it seems the kids are very near the rope they lay out to create a barrier for the stage are more often chosen. I'd try arriving early & being near the front. If your son has already visited the Pirates League before the Pirate Tutorial he would certainly stand out.  Kids that seem excited & have personality are often chosen. No guarantees but it doesn't hurt to try & stand out.

The Pirate Tutorial takes place several times a day. The times will be listed on your Times Guide that you can pick up when you the park. Keep in mind that schedules are always subject to change without notice for many reasons.

The Adventureland Pirate Parade is a different event & is typically held daily at 4:00 p.m.  Everyone who has had a pirate makeover at the Pirates League during that day is invited to come back & participate. You meet at the stage in Adventureland across from the entrance to Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Its a short parade (nothing fancy) in the area but the kids have so much fun. You end in front of The Pirates League sign for a group picture.

Wishing you many magical piratical memories :-) Allison
