Shopping at Downtown Disney

I am interested in visiting Downtown Disney for the Easter egg hunt. How can I make this activity fun for my kids who are 12, 10, and 2 years old? Is it something they can all enjoy? Or should I leave the older ones at home?

Hey there, hi there, ho there, Cassie!

You’re as welcome as can be to planDisney! I love this question because I've been going to the special egg hunt called Eggstravaganza at the Downtown Disney District with my best gal pals and their little ones for years now and we always have an egg-cellent time! Our group of little and big Mouseketeers always have a blast! So whether your cast of characters is curious like Alice, always running late like the White Rabbit, or just hopping around like Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh, the Eggstravaganza is a wonderful way to spend a magical day together. I can assure you that it's an eggs-cellent activity for all ages!

Everyone is sure to have a great time searching for the special Disney-themed "eggs" hidden in the most un-eggs-pected places. Separate hunts are available at the Disneyland Park (where I hunted with my tumbly toddler last week), and Disney’s California Adventure as well.

To start, head over to one of the shops that sell the game board for the hunt, like The Disney Dress Shop or World of Disney, and purchase your game board (remember: discounts apply for Magic Key holders!). We usually buy one for each child so that they can each get a prize in the end.

Once you have your game boards (we usually buy one for each child so that they can each get a prize in the end), the hunt begins! Look high and low for the hidden "eggs" themed to Disney characters and place stickers on your game board when you spot them. Don't worry if you don't complete the entire quest, you'll still receive a collectible egg when you return your game board to a redemption location.

To make the day extra special, wear your favorite Mickey or Minnie Mouse ears or Disney outfits! You could even make a friendly competition out of who can find the most eggs and once you’ve found them, grab a sweet reward. I always love to stop at Marceline's Confectionary to see that irresistible seasonal treat is offered. That's sure to be a hit with both kids and adults!

Cassie, here's a fun idea for a prize after the hunt: for your bigger Mouseketeers, how about stopping by Splitsville Luxury Lanes for a yummy appetizer (my personal favorite is the Loaded Fries, but they have something for everyone) and maybe even a round of bowling?

And, if you have little ones with you, don't worry! There are plenty of other fun activities in Downtown Disney for them to enjoy, and explore. There’s even live entertainment at Downtown Disney LIVE!

Cassie, I think the annual Eggstravaganza is an eggs-ilarating adventure for families of all ages. You won't regret taking your younglings to experience the magic year after year!

So, what are you waiting for? This year’s hunt ends on April 9th, so don't be late for this very egg-citing date! Grab your game boards and your ears and let's hop to it!

Thank you so much for your question, Cassie! It brought back a flood of delightful memories of the Eggstravaganza at Downtown Disney. If you feel curious about anything else, feel free to ask. Remember, you've got a friend in me!

    See ya real soon,
