We're interested in any tips on taking toddlers to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, like wait-time for rides or getting a good spot for the parade? We're not sure if this event is right for our 1- and 3-year old.

    Hi Rebecca,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a great question! My little guy may be almost 6, but he has visited Walt Disney World Resort several times in his little life… including attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party when he was 2 and 4 years old!

I really think that this event is Magical for everyone, from big kids to the littlest ones and I highly recommend attending if you can. My little guy absolutely loved the parade and the “snow” on Main Street. I still remember him clapping his little hands in glee as he watched the lights and snow falling around us… while munching on some of the special Christmas cookies that are available throughout the Park.

The first thing to know is that wait time for attractions are usually relatively short during this Special Event, but that “headliner” attractions can still have relatively long wait times throughout the night. The real reason to attend the Party is to enjoy all of the special entertainment, including Holiday Wishes and Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. There were excellent spots to view it in Frontierland, especially around the start near Pecos Bill’s Tall Tales Inn and Café.

A toddler travel tip that worked really well for us: we would shift our son’s nap time to 3:00-5:00 (or sometimes even later). That way, we would be able to attend events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party with him and he would typically be able to stay awake quite happily until at least after the fireworks. I would highly recommend a slightly modified nap schedule for your whole vacation. That way, everyone can enjoy all that Walt Disney World Resort has to offer in the evenings!

    Have a Magical Day,
    Lynne
