Hi! I am interested in staying at the Boardwalk Deluxe Studio, which I see is under refurbishment. Do you happen to know when the DVC section would be complete? At this time, it sleeps 5 people, but do you know if it will still sleep 5 after the refurb?

    Welcome back to planDisney, Kristin!

Since it sounds like you've got another, exciting Walt Disney World Resort visit in the works, I'm so glad you dropped by with another planning question to help make every detail of your vacation practically perfect in every way.  As it just so happens, Disney's BoardWalk Villas is one of my favorite Disney Vacation Club Resorts –– with all those whimsical touches, the idyllic setting around Crescent Lake, and its close proximity to both EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios, it's a definite winner in my book.  And while I didn't think it could get much better, the upcoming addition of The Cake Bake Shop and the planned refurbishment of the Resort's Guest rooms have me more excited than ever to book my next stay –– I can't wait for you to experience all the magic of this fantastic Resort for yourself during your upcoming vacation!

While an announcement about the refurbishment of the Guest rooms at Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas has been included on the Resort's webpage, we haven't gotten any specific details yet about when this renovation will begin, what exactly is being refurbished, or a projected date for the completion of the project. I'm sorry that I can't give you anything more specific, I can share how the process of refurbishing Disney Vacation Club rooms typically works to help you get a better idea of what you might expect during this renovation.

Historically, DVC rooms are typically either refreshed or fully refurbished on roughly a seven-year rotation (these may not be an exact timeframe, but that gives you a general idea).  Since the rooms at Disney's BoardWalk Villas were last refreshed in 2016, my guess is that they will be receiving a full refurbishment when the upcoming construction begins.  While we don't know exactly what this will mean for those rooms, I can tell you recent refurbishments at other DVC Resorts have included replacing pull-out style couches with new murphy-style beds (a BIG upgrade in my opinion) and adding a small twin-sized pulldown sleeper to accommodate a 5th Guests.  And on that note, since the BoardWalk's Deluxe Studio accommodations were already designed to sleep five Guests, I would also expect that occupancy number to stay the same after these new renovations. Finally, you might also be interested to know that these types of renovations are usually ongoing, so there might be a mix of newly-refurbished rooms and older-style rooms in each building until the whole process is complete.  I know during the recent refurbishment of the existing DVC rooms at the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Guests were able to stay in the rooms that had been updated as soon as the work on each room was finished.

Thanks for making another stop at planDisney, Kristin.  As always, if you think of more planning questions as your next Walt Disney World Resort visit gets closer, please don't hesitate to drop by again!

    Have a Magical Day,
    Amy
