Hello Karyll! I love that you are planning a special visit for your special guy! No matter if celebrating a 6th or 60th birthday, the Walt Disney World Resort is a great way for a person to spend their special day! My wife and I took our sons (twins) to celebrate their 7th birthday at the Walt Disney World Resort! It was a total surprise for them! We told them we’d be picking them up early from school for a dentist appointment. Much to their surprise, we were off to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Since this vacation is all about your son’s 6th birthday, I would try to center your planning around his interests. For example, if he loves films such as Cars, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and The Little Mermaid then you might consider booking a hotel reservation at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! This resort is perfectly themed for the young, as well as the young at heart!
If your son is “one with the Force” then you’ll need to plan a visit to
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Here he’ll be able to experience amazing attractions such as Millenium Falcon - Smugglers Run (38-inch required height) and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (40-inch required height)! You could also consider booking a reservation for your son to build his own lightsaber at Savi's Workshop or build his own droid at Droid Depot! While at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll also want to check out Toy Story Land, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, as well as
Star Tours - The Adventures Continue (40-inch required height)! If your son is like me and lives for the fantasy of Disney classics then a visit to
Magic Kingdom Park might also be perfect! I love attractions such as Mickey's PhilharMagic, Under the Sea - Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Peter Pan's Flight, and Pirates of the Caribbean!
Perhaps your son loves the Disney characters! If he does then you might want to book a character dining experience! These are available at several locations in the Disney Parks or in the resort hotels. I recommend
Chef Mickey’s (breakfast or dinner), Topolino’s Terrace (breakfast), and Tusker House (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for some of the best character dining experiences! If you decide to book a character dining experience, be sure to do so 60-days prior to your arrival date! They are very popular and book fast!
Karyll, don’t forget to request a complimentary birthday button at either your resort hotel or in the Disney Parks! Your son can wear his button all day long so that Cast Members and other Guests will be able to help him celebrate his birthday!
Hakuna Matata! Jonathan
