Hi, I am interested in picking a pearl with my daughters. Please could you tell me where this is available. Thanks.

    Hi Susan Helen,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thanks for sending us this excellent question!

My daughter and I have enjoyed participating in this uniquely magical experience at the "Pick-A-Pearl" location in the Mitsukoshi Department Store of Epcot's Japan Pavilion. We've discovered that selecting the strangest looking oyster we could possibly find in the tanks produced the best results. They typically have the largest pearls! Shh! It's a secret!

Once your daughters pick their pearls, the Cast Member from Japan will go through a special ceremony. The oyster is placed on a wooden tray; then the Cast Member and your daughters will bow to one another. Subsequently, the Cast Member will countdown "3, 2, 1" in Japanese. It's incredibly fun opening the oyster shell to unveil its treasure. After the big reveal, the beautiful pearl is cleaned and there is an exciting drumming ceremony that takes place. Everyone is welcome to clap along. Afterward, the beautiful pearl awaits its new setting. The store offers numerous designs ranging in price.

Did You Know? The Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing during the time of your visit. How very exciting!

I hope this was helpful information, Susan Helen. If you have any other questions, please come back to visit us. My Moms Panel friends and I will be thrilled to help you discover the Power of Magic while planning an enchanting Disney vacation.

Wishing you a most unforgettable visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
