Hi there Megan,
Thanks for stopping by
planDisney with a question about your upcoming summertime stay at
Disney's Vero Beach Resort. It’s a pretty special spot - three different kinds of sea turtles nest here between April and October. Whether you’re dreaming of a laid-back beach escape or a getaway packed with fun activities, you’ll find just the right balance at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.
Fishing Fundamentals takes place at a private lake just across the street from the resort. To get there, you’ll head through the tunnel that goes under the road - my kids thought the walk itself was part of the adventure! I spoke with a Cast Member who shared that the lake is catch-and-release, and Guests are welcome to bring their own gear if they want to fish outside of the guided experience. There’s also fishing available along the Indian River, just a bit past the resort if you're up for exploring a little more.
Since you’re visiting Disney’s Vero Beach Resort around the end of July, you might be lucky enough to catch the
Tour de Turtles! It usually takes place the last weekend of July, and it’s such a neat experience - Guests can watch as the Disney Conservation Team Wildlife helps release one or two sea turtles back into the ocean. These turtles are part of a research project that tracks their migration, giving us a glimpse into the incredible journey they make each year.
I hope this information is helpful to your vacation planning, Megan. If you have any other questions, please feel free to
reach out - I'm happy to assist!
Happy planning,
Candace
