Hello Renee!
Welcome to planDisney! I just had a surprisingly delightful stay at
Disney's All-Star Music Resort! The Resort was lively and the music playing at the pool was the best. I loved the energy of the Cast Members and dancing to my bus stop in the morning with them.
The family suites at this Resort are located in Building 2 in Jazz Inn and Building 10 in the Calypso section. Family Suites have 1 queen bed and 2 queen pull-down Murphy beds. Standard rooms at this Resort are located in Rock Inn, Country Fair, and Broadway Hotel. If you wish to be in the same building as the family suites you will have to book a Preferred Room which is located in Calypso and Jazz Inn. I suggest booking a Family Suite and a Preferred Room to have a better chance of being assigned to the same building. Now, if you want to be next to each other and only pay for a Standard room then consider booking Rock Inn building 3 Standard rooms and Jazz Inn building 2 Family Suites. These buildings are next to each other.
I am just going to add some information about
Disney's Art of Animation Resort as you stated in your question about "Art of Music" and I wasn't completely sure which Resort you meant. Disney's Art of Animation Resort has three sections devoted to Family Suites. They are themed to Cars, Finding Nemo, and The Lion King movies. These Family Suites include 1 queen bed in a separate bedroom, 1 double-sized Murphy bed in the living room, and 1 double-sized sleeper sofa. The only buildings that have standard rooms are those in The Little Mermaid section. Unfortunately, Renee, there are no standard rooms in the same buildings as the Family Suites. If you want to be as close as possible to the party staying in the standard suites then I would suggest booking a room in The Lion King Family Suites. This section is the closest to The Little Mermaid section.
During online check-in, there is no space to make requests for specific buildings. The options tend to be requests for things like a higher floor or near an elevator. I suggest
calling Disney Resort Hotel Reservations and making sure that your two rooms are linked as one Party and that a note is made about your desire to be together. Once you book your rooms you can
link the other Resort hotel reservation to you as well! Just enter the confirmation number and the last name on the reservation. Make sure that you all are linked on the
Family & Friends List so that you can plan together!
I hope this helps and you guys have a great time together!
Happy Planning!
