I am interested in doing an excursion on an upcoming cruise. Can you explain the difference between an excursion offered by Disney vs. one offered by a third party. Also why do some of the excursions on the site say they are not through Disney. pros vs con

    Hi Leslie!

I am so glad you found us while planning for your upcoming Disney Cruise Line vacation and know that you must be getting excited!  I imagine your onboard booking window will be opening soon and I am glad you are thinking ahead about your Port Adventures so that once the time comes you are ready to go.

I always recommend doing a Port Adventure that is offered through Disney Cruise Line for a couple of reasons – first, they do ALL the work for you!  Once you decide what excursion you want to do and sign up for it, all you have to do is show up and enjoy!  They take care of all the guess work and resEARch making it a seamless and enjoyable day.  Disney Cruise Line always has a variety of options for Guests to choose from whether you are looking for adventure or a leisurely day, there is something for everyone to enjoy!  They really do offer the best of the best opportunities at each port of call Disney Cruise ships visit.  Additionally, and probably the most important – is timing.  If you are on a Disney Cruise Line Port Adventure and traffic hits or there is some other sort of unforeseen delay in getting back to the ship, they will wait for you!  That is not always the case if you opt to do an excursion that you book on your own, which can cause a lot of unnecessary stress during your day if you are worried about making it back on time.  Therefore, I always recommend going through Port Adventures to book my excursions as opposed to a third-party vendor.  Many of the Disney Cruise Line Port Adventures are organized by Disney Cruise Line but facilitated by a local company.  You still meet onboard and will stay with your travel group throughout the day until your excursion is complete.

Wishing you a magical adventure at sea!

    Happy Sailing!
